WHAT'S UP IN CHINA WITH BIOFUEL? Everyone seems eager to get a share of China's biofuels pie. Liang Yulin, a 28-year-old real estate tycoon in southern China's Guangzhou City, began investing in biodiesel production last October. COMPANIES VIE FOR INDONESIA's RING FIBER PROJECT According to Indonesia's Director of Telecommunications Budi Santoso, two local firms, PT Agela Communications Indonesia and PT Potensi Bumi Sakti have decided to bid for building/operating the $1.6 billion Palapa Ring fibre-optic project. Three companies-PT Wireless Indonesia, PT Telkom and PT Bakrie Telecom have already shown interest in bidding for this project. This Palapa Ring project forms a key part of the government's plan to boost telecom penetration in Indonesia. The 21,807km terrestrial cable and 35,280km undersea cable systems would link 440 cities and 33 provinces. The construction work is likely to start in early 2008. The current telecom penetration rate in Indonesia is around 20%.
